James N. McCord, Jr. joined the Department of History at William & Mary in the 1960's and retired in 2005. He received the Thomas Jefferson Award in recognition of his contributions to the college and Williamsburg communities, including organizing First Night activities and arranging a weekly academic talk to encourage cooperation and communication between the college's community and Williamsburg's.
