David Yancey of Louisa was a student at William & Mary attending in 1796 according to the Provisional List of Alumni. Yancey spoke at the annual exercises in Williamsburg on July 4, 1796, according to The Virginia Gazette and General Advertiser and as of 1800 he was practicing law.1
