The James Monroe Prize in Civic Leadership is awarded on Charter Day at William & Mary. The award is given each year to a William & Mary student who best demostrates sustained leadership of an unusual quality - leadership combined with initiative, character, and an unfailing commitment to leveraging the assets of the College community to address the needs of society. The prize was established in 2005 by the Owens Foundation. The honorees receive a scholarship, a framed citation, and their names are added to a permanent plaque describing the award in the Sadler Center

A note about the contents of this site

This website contains the best available information from known sources at the time it was written. Unfortunately, many of the early original records of William & Mary were destroyed by fires, military occupation, and the normal effects of time. The information in this website is not complete, and it changes as we continue to research and uncover new sources.
