Julian Alvin Carroll Chandler

I, ___(name)_____________, do swear that I will well and truly execute the duties of my office as President according to the best of my abilities, so help me God.

From Proceedings at the Formal Installation of Julian Alvin Carroll Chandler as President of The College of William and Mary in Virginia, October 19, 1921, Williamsburg, Virginia (page 8). Note that the booklet states this is the ancient oath of office adopted by the Board of Visitors in 1792.

Alvin Duke Chandler

I, ___(name)_____________, do swear that I will well and truly execute the duties of the office of President according to the best of my ability, so help me God.

Paul R. Verkuil

I, ___(name)_____________, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Virginia and that I will faithfully and impartially discharge all the duties incumbent upon me as President of the College of William & Mary in Virginia, according to the best of my ability, so help me God.

Timothy J. Sullivan
